What JUST GO means for Adam Pervez

Four years ago, Adam Pervez quit his job working as a business development specialist. He launched a website, set off for Mexico and embarked on the Happy Nomad Tour, which focused on volunteering, writing, teaching and learning what makes people happy around the world.

He was only 22 when he was first bitten by the travel bug as he took a 10-day study abroad trip to Egypt during college and realized “all it takes to see the amazing wonders in this world is a little bit of money, a plane ticket and an open mind.”

As one of the people featured in our book, Just Go! Leave the Treadmill for a World of Adventure, Adam shares his thoughts about what “just go” means to him:

“In 2011 I had reached a point of no return. I could see the future laid out before me, and arguably it was an enviable one: good income, living in a safe and happy country, and few worries. The only problem was that I was miserable and I knew in my heart that if I didn’t make a change now I never would.

What that in mind, I started looking inward to better understand myself and determine the kind of life I wanted to live. As the answers started coming to me, and I discovered my passions, I was able to focus my energy into creating a happier and healthier life.

Armed with my passions of traveling, writing, helping others, teaching, learning, and telling stories, I hit the road for two and a half years to volunteer, better understand happiness, and experience as much as I could. Nothing could have prepared me for the kindness, compassion, and love I experienced on the road. Almost immediately I knew I was on the right path and although I couldn’t stay on the road forever, those experiences will guide me throughout the rest of my life.

For me, just go means summoning the courage and consciousness that you’ll never have all the answers, you’ll never be fully prepared, but at the same time the learning experience of a lifetime is there for the taking. There will never be a perfect time, tomorrow will never come if you don’t make peace with the fact that in order to grow, you just have to go!”
